Thomas Godfrey, Hybrid's launch Editor and a Brookes class of 2023 grad makes the prestigious London Press Club Awards' shortlist

Former Oxford Brookes BA Media, Journalism, and Publishing student, Thomas Godfrey, has been nominated for Young Journalist of the Year 2025 at the London Press Club Awards.

The members’ club provides opportunities for journalists and others interested in the media to meet and debate the latest issues, as well as hosting regular events.
He’s being recognised for his strong print, video, and data reporting in The Sun.
Thomas Godfrey said, “I’m really pleased to have been nominated for Young Journalist of the Year.
“I am very lucky to work with some incredibly talented people who have supported me all the way.
“Launching and editing the course publication Hybridmag was incredibly useful in preparing for my full-time role after leaving university.

“Student journalism is critical in giving the next generation the best experience possible so they can jump-start their careers in an increasingly competitive market.”
The other journalists being recognised for Young Journalist of the Year 2025 are: Ollie Corfe at The Telegraph, Daisy Graham-Brown at The Mail on Sunday, and Merlyn Thomas at BBC News.
The winners will be announced at the London Press Club Awards lunch on Wednesday, 22 October 2025, at Stationers’ Hall near St Paul’s Cathedral.
