Further Cost of Living Support to be Provided in Oxfordshire
After the Government announced the extension of the Household Support Fund, Oxfordshire County Council proposes more financial help for those struggling most with the cost of living crisis.
Oxfordshire County Council will continue to provide free school meals for those eligible during the school holidays, as well as funding for low-income pensioners who’ve recently lost their winter fuel allowance.
This is after the news that the Government extended the Household Support Fund from 1 October 2024 to 31 of March 2025. Meaning Oxfordshire residents struggling with basic living costs will continue to benefit from the council's cost of living support.
A package of measures to help those struggling has been proposed and is awaiting agreement by the council’s cabinet on November 19th.
Councillor Nathan Ley, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, Inequalities, and Community Safety, said: “It’s so important that we can continue to provide vital support to households that need it the most.”
