Hybrid Magazine is here!
Officially the first-ever student publication on Substack, Hybrid launches with the support of one of British journalism's leading voices, Farrah Storr
Dear readers,
Welcome to Hybrid Magazine, a future-facing, youth-led publication pursuing the issues that matter right now.
Focused on culture, climate, and creativity, discover a broad range of writing from short stories, such as Oliver Evans’ Thin Air, to global current affairs analysis like this piece by Diana Miu, Perspectives on the Romanian government’s handling of Covid-19.
Hybrid is officially the first student publication on Substack and we hope it will influence the way student journalism is both viewed and consumed, and we also hope it will encourage other students to join us on the platform — do get in touch if you’d like to write for us (email hello@hybridmag.co.uk).
We did have a little help getting started. We are very grateful for the generous insights on Substack from the award-winning journalist and editor Farrah Storr, who is Head of Writer Partnerships at Substack UK, and author of the Things Worth Knowing newsletter. You can listen to Farrah’s message of support on our launch video below.
Finally, launching the magazine would not be possible without the contribution of our course supervisors Alexandra Shakespeare and Dr Antonia Mackay, or our student editors, writers, and social media and marketing contributors - do check out the full team on our About Us page.
If you subscribe, you’ll get regular notifications when a new piece is published and you can also find links to our work on Instagram and Twitter — if you read something you like, please do share it with your friends; every new reader really does make a difference.
Thank you for reading,
Thomas Godfrey
