Man named and sentenced to 26 weeks in prison for shoplifting

Man aged 58 of Henry Taunt Close, has been sentenced to 26 weeks in prison in oxford after being convicted of shoplifting in various shops.
Copeland-Brown was arrested on Thursday 8th of November 2024 and there after charged on the same day.
In a hearing at oxford Magistrates’ court, Copeland -Brown pleaded guilty to five counts of theft from multiple shops in oxford.
His plea was entered on the 9th of November 2024 a day after his arrest following Thames Valley police investigation.
Police reports indicate that, Between 24 June and 28 October this year, Copeland-Brown targeted stores in London Road, stealing goods from Headington Pharmacy, the Co-operative store and Sainsbury’s.
PC Jonathan Kelly, the investigating officer in this matter said that “Copeland-Brown is a prolific offender who frequently targeted the same stores in London Road.
“I am pleased that he has been given a custodial sentence because of his offending behaviour.
“Tackling shoplifting in Oxford is a priority for the force, and I hope that this outcome shows that we are taking retail theft seriously and will always seek to pursue and prosecute offenders.”
According to a report by the Oxford Mail, the first offence took place on 15th of February around 3.25 pm stealing £70 worth of meat from Sainsbury’s in London Road, Headington followed by more incidents.
