Oxford Playhouse presents 'time travelling' Sleeping Beauty Pantomime
From the 22nd of November to the 5th of January, Oxford Playhouse showcases this year’s pantomime, Sleeping Beauty.
Down on Beaumont Street, Oxford Playhouse (for its 86th year) is to showcase a retelling of Sleeping Beauty. With last year’s commended pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk, the Playhouse this year is staying traditional, but putting on their own twist of the Sleeping Beauty with a sprinkle of time travel.
With a cast of national names, Sophia Lewis embodies the role of the sleeping princess alongside returning Playhouse alumni, Robin Hemmings and London based comedian Lucy Frederick.
With these returning panto actors, everyone of all ages is sure to get involved in this pantomime with either a chuckle or boo.
Oxford Brookes, Media student, Marianne Butt, 20, said: “Sleeping Beauty is a fun and Christmassy panto, why not make it more fun by adding time travel to it. I’d definitely go and see what this version is like!”
To really get into the Christmas spirit before the panto, Oxford’s Christmas market also begins to set up with more than tens of craft and food stalls down George Street, just a 3-minute walk away alongside hanging Christmas lights across each street as you make your way through.
