The Talking Plate: an Indian supper club
Brookes students bringing authentic flavours and community spirit to Oxford’s dining scene
In Oxford’s vibrant food scene, The Talking Plate is making waves as a unique Indian-inspired supper club offering intimate dining experiences filled with warmth, community, and authentic homemade flavours.

Every visit brings something new. Founded by Lochana and Sahana, students at Oxford Brookes, the club’s curated menu will soon rotate between five different culinary themes on alternating days.
The Talking Plate is more than just a meal; it’s a celebration of culture, stories, and connection. Held in cozy settings around Oxford, events bring people of all ages together to share laughter and heartfelt stories over delicious food.
The supper club brings in people to a table with the spirit of home cooking and a focus on community bonding and cultural exchange.
Lochana says, “A diner is more than just plates and dishes. We bring people that never knew each other together and find happiness in the relationships they build”.
Lochana and Sahana make the saying, “A family that eats together stays together”, true. These two young women are not just with a dream but a vision to connect people in the world that many find difficult to fit in.
On every Sunday from 7pm to 9pm, The Talking Plate promises more memorable evenings where each plate tells a story and guests leave with new friendships and a deeper appreciation for Indian cuisine. Reservations are highly recommended due to limited seating, ensuring an intimate and personal experience.
For food lovers seeking authentic, home-cooked Indian cuisine paired with vibrant cultural stories, this is an essential part of Oxford’s dining landscape in 2025.
