Woman Pleads guilty to Manslaughter as Statistics show increased violent crimes
Senior Investigation Officer praises police for their dedication to putting offenders to courts
Following an incident in Banbury prompting Police investigation, a woman has been convicted of manslaughter.
Lisa Davenport, aged 55, of Washle Drive, Middleton Cheney, pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Oxford Crown Court on 21 November 2024. This was after Barrie Davenport, 88 years old, died at an assisted living complex in School Lane on Monday 17 October 2022.
A murder investigation was launched by the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit led by Detective Alice Broad and, on 18 October 2022 Lisa Davenport was arrested.
She was charged on 8 September 2023 with one count of murder.
However, following the guilty plea on the 21st of November, the prosecution accepted the alternative plea of manslaughter by diminished responsibility, says the police.
Lisa Davenport will appear again at Oxford Crown Court on the 7th of February 2025 for sentencing.

Lisa Davenport will now be sentenced for her actions on the 7th of February.
According to a statistics report released by Varbes, “Incidents of violence with injury in Oxfordshire have risen by 165.1% between 2014 and 2023 from 1,736 to 4,603 incidents per year. Murders or homicides have decreased by 33.3% from 6 to 4 per year.”
