Botley Road closure continues to cause concerns for local businesses.

The continued delay of reopening the Botley Road generates concerns for business owners ahead of the Christmas period

The Botley Road closure has been causing chaos since April 2023. A proposal to develop the station has been met by several setbacks from Network Rail, drastically impacting the local businesses in Botley.

The construction to add a new platform to the Oxford Railway Station has been met with challenges for Network Rail, including a set of Victorian pipework. Layla Moran, the MP for West Oxford and Abingdon, has called the series of delays “unacceptable” as Newtwork Rail continues to push back the completion date.

This has allowed for local businesses near the station to suffer, as Network announced that they will not be reopening the Botley Road this October, affecting these businesses for a second Christmas in a row.
